The Deep End

Really loved this first book in this series! Vivid description of the 1970’s with believable characters hooked me right away. Ellison Russell is a fantastic protagonist – I can relate to her irritation with her mother. I admit, she did frustrate me at times, but prevailed (I cannot give away the ending, but I was right there with her in the chase). I loved the fact that this had more than one victim and I was surprised as to who the culprit turned out to be! The ending kept me on edge. Great start to a new series I’m definitely a fan of! Cannot wait to pick up book 2 (Guaranteed to Bleed)  Check out author Julie Mulhern’s Amazon page here:

About the book –

Swimming into the lifeless body of her husband’s mistress tends to ruin a woman’s day, but becoming a murder suspect can ruin her whole life.

It’s 1974 and Ellison Russell’s life revolves around her daughter and her art. She’s long since stopped caring about her cheating husband, Henry, and the women with whom he entertains himself. That is, until she becomes a suspect in Madeline Harper’s death. The murder forces Ellison to confront her husband’s proclivities and his crimes—kinky sex, petty cruelties and blackmail.

As the body count approaches par on the seventh hole, Ellison knows she has to catch a killer. But with an interfering mother, an adoring father, a teenage daughter, and a cadre of well-meaning friends demanding her attention, can Ellison find the killer before he finds her?

Ghost of a Murder (D. D. Mobeck)

Ghost of a Murder cover

I enjoyed this mystery (Book 1) set in the hot summer of the South! I love the “adventures” of main character, Daphne, and I am so looking forward to the next book in this series. I became more interested in Daphne and her female friends who I like to call “assistants in unraveling the murder” as the story went on. She was obsessed with finding the killer, which only a great detective can do! The only thing that threw me off, was the formatting. I read this in Kindle and sometimes when more than one character were talking, they tended to be in the same paragraph, but that didn’t keep me from enjoying it. Book 2 is on the way from Amazon! 🙂

A GUY LIKE ME (J.S. von Dacre)

A Guy Like Me (short story)

Offered FREE for 5 days on Kindle! (starting March 1)A Guy Like Me Cover

A man haunted by dark demons of his past must face the repercussions of his choices.

I was amazed at this short story! I cannot say much without giving it away, but the author really threw me for a loop, leading me into a whole different train of thought regarding a specific character. I think any male reader out there would love this one! It’s really short, would only take you a lunch break to read it. Amazing! Highly recommended!

Multicoloured Deathtrap (Katie L. Thompson)

I enjoyed this third installment of the Jamie Stanley Investigation Series. Katie L Thompson never disappoints! As with the first two books in this series, I had no idea who the murderer was from the list of suspects. It was even more of a shock as to why the culprit committed the crime. It’s amazing how Katie unravels the mystery through the actions of the three detectives. I loved the uplifting ending as well! Thanks Katie, for another great mystery!
